It's Time For The Annual Recharter
(Troop)

Posted: Nov 16 2008 - 9:38pm

It is time for Troop 173’s annual recharter. Each year, the Boy Scouts of America asks Troops and members to register for the next calendar year. The cost for scouts and adults to recharter is $13.25 each. This amount includes recharter, insurance and the quality unit award patch. If a scout would like to subscribe to Boy’s Life, that is an additional $12.00. Susan Brooks is coordinating our recharter for this year. Susan will be at meetings on November 18, 2008 and December 2, 2008 to collect the recharter monies. If you or your scout would like to recharter, please talk with Susan by December 2nd. If you have any questions, please contact Susan by e-mail suebrooks@ctc.net.

Hammocks Beach State Park Campout Update
(Troop)

Posted: Oct 31 2008 - 5:30pm

The Hammocks Beach State Park campout is now in the books. On Friday, October 24 we drove (in the rain) to Jacksonville, NC and camped on the floors of Jim & Tammy Miller. Thanks to the Miller's generosity we avoided camping in the rain on Friday and also avoided having to deal with wet equipment on Saturday morning. On Saturday morning we packed up and headed to the park as originally planned (but in the rain again). However, when we reached the park we were denied access to Bare Island due to rough waters that the storm winds were kicking up. The park had closed the state ferry to the island for the day shortly before our arrival.

Yorktown Update
(Troop)

Posted: Oct 31 2008 - 4:42pm

Congratulations to the 41 participants that paid their Yorktown trip money on time. Get ready to experience a historic campout and a ghostly experience in downtown Charleston. If you missed out on making the payment but still want to go then you need to get on the waiting list in case someone drops out of the trip.
